Renew Your License

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Regarding Dental Renewal Postcards

Dear Licensee,

We are aware that some renewal notice postcards were mailed to some licensees with the incorrect License Type or License Status listed. Please know that this is a printing error and that your records are accurate in our system.  You will be able to renew your license as normal in the correct type and status.

We apologize for any confusion this has caused. Please know that we are actively taking steps to address this issue.

As always if you need any technical assistance with our Online Renewal System or if you have further questions about the renewal you may email us at regonline@dora.state.co.us or call us at 303-894-2421.

Sincerely,

Jason D. Sunstrom

System Support Director

Important Licensure renewal information from Maulid Miskell, Director, Dental Board of Examiners

Please be aware that there will be a new requirement for licensees to address with this next renewal cycle and with future renewals. They will have to complete an online healthcare professional profile in order to renew their license; those interested in hardcopy renewal applications will get this information in hardcopy as well. All licensees renewing an active license will not be able to renew their license until their profile is also completed....This HPP requirement is mandatory in order to be able to renew this year.  It is a living profile that needs to be updated as changes occur and ...during future renewal dates.  More detailed information about the processis provided on the HPPP website below.

The February 2012 renewal for licensure has beenopened and licensees can now renew on line.

Licensees can expect to receive the renewal postcard in their possession by January 23, 2012. It is yellow in color and it simply reminds them that it is time to renew their license and provides directions for doing so online. A phone # is also provided for those who prefer to do so the traditional hardcopy route where they can call in and have a renewal packet mailed to them. If for whatever reason, a licensee has not received his or her postcard by January 23rd, then he or she does not have to call and ask about one or continue waiting; he or she can simply visit the following website and look for the link to the appropriate renewal portal (it will be listed separately amongst several professions up for renewal around the same time)This website is now available and you can log on at any time:

The renewal fee for dental hygienists will be $86 this renewal cycle, which is a decrease of $20 from the last renewal cycle. Please note there is a $15 penalty fee if a licensee does not renew his or her license by February 29, 2012 and instead elects to do so during the 60-day grace period that follows the license expiration date. If a licensee is unable to renew his or her license by the close of the late renewal 60-day grace period, then that license is deemed expired and that licensee will have to cease practicing until his or her license has been reinstated. A separate application process and fee is required in order to reinstate an expired license and if a licensee practices under an expired license then that person is subject to the possibility of disciplinary action being taken against that license for such illegal conduct.

The State Board of Dental Examiners (Board) will have a representative from the Healthcare Professions Profiling Program (HPPP) available at its booth in the Exhibit Hall during the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention from Thursday, January 19th through Saturday, January 21st. This representative will be able to answer questions and help licensees set up their profiles. The folks from HPPP will also be conducting a webinar on Friday, February 3rd scheduled to start at 10:00 am, which will allow interested parties the ability to log-in from a computer at home, office, or library and learn about this new requirement and the process for complying through active participation. Licensees can register for this webinar through the HPPP website atwww.dora.state.co.us/hppp or through the Board’s website atwww.dora.state.co.us/dental under the section on the main page titled “Healthcare Professions Profiling Program Informational Webinar”, which is located right underneath the “LICENSEE/APPLICANT SERVICES” section.
